FTC VisitPosted December 7th, 2009 by orourke.emily
Today I had the opportunity of visiting the Free the Children head office in Toronto. I visited with my school's Halloween for Hunger executive team. We got a tour of the buildings and actually got to talk to a number of the employees to find out about the organization and how it works. Among the people we were fortunate enough to spend time with was Craig and Marc Kielburger, Michel and Spencer (motivational speakers) and many more. We volunteered aroudn the office wherever they needed us. Our Halloween for Hunger event has reached it's 10th year now, and our goal was to reach 54,321 lbs of food for our local food bank, neighbour to neighbour. We succeeded and our final tally was 56, 823 lbs and almost 5,000 dollars in donation. Every year we get bigger and try to raise more food money and awareness of poverty in our community. I consider myself extremly fortunate to have this experience, and I urge anyone who's reading to get involved as well. There's no better way to have a profound impact. This changes you in ways you never imagined, and for the better. Films
