DIRECTORS OF CHANGE BREAK THE SILENCE CONTEST
The Directors of Change Break the Silence Contest is challenging you to explore the issue of children’s rights. November 20, 2009 marks the twentieth anniversary of the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child. Beginning November 13th, Directors of Change website will be accepting entries from individuals ages 14-24 that answer one of the following questions:
1. Imagine that you have an opportunity to speak to the General Assembly at the United Nations to represent youth around the world. What changes do you envision to further protect children’s rights and encourage world governments to take action?
OR
2. Which children’s rights issue needs our most urgent attention and what action can you take to help improve the situation for youth?
Submissions for the contest can range from short documentaries, interviews, spoken word videos, short fictional films, short stories, essays, poems, musical pieces, artwork, or photographs. English and French submissions are accepted.
The prize includes: · Three Tickets to We Day 2010 in either Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal · A meeting with Michel Chikwanine, former child soldier, either at the Toronto Free The Children office or via teleconference · Your choice of 3 Me To We Style T-shirts
