Craig Goodwill has been connected to film and the arts for over 14
years. As a director/producer, Craig has traveled the world, directing
and producing films and television for National Geographic, CBC, Bravo,
Much Music, MTV, Alliance Atlantis, HGTV, and UK Style. Most recently
Craig has returned from a directing a documentary on artists overcoming
the stigma of "artists with a disability". Many of his films have been
selected to appear at various world-renowned film festivals.
Craig
began his career working as a Director/Producer/Writer’s Assistant on
such notable features as Good Will Hunting, Studio 54, Driven,
Superstar and Storm of The Century. Craig soon moved into television
where he Senior produced two groundbreaking seasons of U8TV: The
Lofters - Canada’s first realty television series.
National
Geographic was Craig’s next stop, where his role as Segment/Associate
Producer for the series: Crisis Zone, embraced his goal to produce
media that makes a difference. This thirteen part “verite” series
followed the efforts of MSF volunteers (Medicine sans Frontiers), as
they worked to improve the lives of others. This show combined three of
Craig’s keen interests: compelling television, traveling and social
awareness.
Craig is also very committed to understanding and
driving youth trends, especially in areas of creative expression and
content generation - developing the world’s largest youth creativity
festival - Mobile Jam Fest (http://mobilejamfest.com).
Revolutionary in its approach, Mobile Jam Fest (MJF) is a leader in
user-generated content, creating offline and online educational
programs for youth, while providing a platform for them to express
their creativity.
Craig has also worked with youth around the
world including Haiti, Mexico, and West Africa to develop their media,
story-telling and content development skills. Craig has worked closely
with youth to develop films which have received world-wide recognition,
including Crossing Borders, a film which tells the stories of youth
living on the border of Mexico and the USA, which won the 2008 Young
Cuts Film Festival, and The Misery of Sophie, a film directed by
Haitian youth, telling the story of a young girls struggle living in
the world as an unpaid domestic worker.
Craig's career has been
filled with unbelievable experiences that have shaped his passion for
film and the arts and his desire to positively Influence today's youth
with that passion. He has worked as a producer/director with MuchMusic
(Canada's music station) and has produced several high profile music
videos for Universal Records. Craig was also the senior producer of the
ground-breaking television series U8TV: The Lofters, Canada's first
reality television series.
Currently, Craig, MJF and their
partners run film camps around the world for youth and has established
himself as an innovator and maverick in this field.
