Connecting with Nunavut!

If I could go anywhere in North America I would travel to Nunavut. I would use my knowledge in filming documentaries to creatively express the cultural differences between youth of the north and youth that live in urban communities. Last spring I built schools in Central America and enjoyed the project because I was able to bring back a story that people could understand and relate to. I would love to be able to use my talents once more to be able to connect youth that are miles apart. A lot of people my age do not know the challenges that youth in the north face and how completely different they are from our own issues. I believe if I am chosen to take on this project, a new wave of understanding and change can happen because there is no focus on this issue in the news, media or in our classrooms. I know that this contest would bring me somewhere that I would never have the chance to see otherwise and it will push my boundaries. I am someone who hates the cold but I have a burning passion for change that snow can not stop. I believe that the youth are the future and if we can encourage the youth of the north to be everything they possibly can be and that they are not alone then who knows what we could accomplish together.
