D.O.C Contest Essay

Deciding to choose any place in North America to document a current social issue concerning youth it would have to be Philadelphia P.A because of all the crime. Documenting Philadelphia would be interesting because people would understand why kids really get in to inapropiate situations; gangs, drugs, robbery. Also, by documenting Philadelphia, kids who may watch documentation about crime in general may come to know the loss of a loved one and the loss of your life by participating in crime affiliated actions, so once you're in gangs, drugs, or other illegal situation it's almost impossible to get out. But there is one thing most of these kids never get and that is hope, so by documenting and starting to run programs which will keep these kids in school to educate them and keep them away from crime they will become better people and that will lead them to have a better life. Perhaps this documentation will let kids realize of what they are capable of and how all young children even those who live in slums, and bad neighbourhoods are capable of not only changing their society but this world.
