Youths and Drugs By: Ashlee Ranjan
All over Canada there are a lot of youths/teenagers who do drugs. Since Toronto is highly populated city in Canada, the most youths that do drugs live in Toronto. These students do drugs because of peer pressure, they think they are cool, and maybe cause of depression.
Most youths in Toronto high schools start doing drugs because of peer pressure. A student will be pressured into taking drugs, telling them it is harmless and it is safe to use or that the student has a chance in becoming a member of the group/gang. Another way into peer pressure is when a student gets beaten up if they don’t at least try it once.
Students who think that they are big and bad do drugs too. These youths think that they are cool when holding a cigarette, cigar, or pipe in there hand. They feel more popular around there area and they like the attention that they get. Most of them think it is also cool to get “high” break rules and to carry drugs around.
Some teenagers just love to be in a place where they can be happy and exited. When some teens are depressed they would do drugs because they want to escape from their depression, hence resulting to drugs. Youths might have went through a stage in there life where they are depressed because of someone passing away, moving to a new place or they just aren’t happy. That’s when some people might be introduced to drugs
In conclusion many students in Toronto do drugs because of there own personal issue. These issues include peer pressure, their coolness or depression. The youths that use drugs should be taught on how drugs effect their body long term and short term and how death can be a result of doing drugs. Films
